Tuenteenians Soar High: 4A Huang Ho Sen Selected for the “15th Young Astronaut Training Camp 2026”
Humanity’s exploration of the vast starry sky has never ceased. Recommended by our Gifted Education Team, 4A student Huang Ho Sen successfully stood out amidst fierce competition from over 200 secondary schools to become one of the 30 elite representatives selected for the “15th Young Astronaut Training Camp 2026”. After attending the send-off ceremony officiated by the Chief Secretary for Administration, Mr. Chan Kwok Ki, at the Hong Kong Space Museum on July 16, Huang officially began his 9-day stellar journey (July 23 to 31).
This trip led our Tuenteenian deep into the heart of the nation’s aerospace technology with an inspiring itinerary:
- Beijing Station (The Shock of Frontier Technology): Students visited the Technology and Engineering Center for Space Utilization. In the Tiangong Space Station control hall, they witnessed real-time orbit footage of Dr. Lai Ka Ying, Hong Kong’s first payload specialist. Furthermore, Huang had a profound exchange with China’s first payload specialist, Gui Haichao, realizing that “the essence of an astronaut’s job is continuing scientific research in space,” which greatly ignited his passion for scientific inquiry.
- Jiuquan & Inner Mongolia Station (Miracles in the Desert): The team set foot in the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center deep in the Gobi Desert, visiting the Dongfanghong and Manned Spaceflight launch towers, experiencing the selfless dedication of generations of aerospace personnel.
- Xi’an Station (Mystery of Time and Power): Concluding the trip, students visited the National Time Service Center and the rocket engine production base, gaining a comprehensive understanding of the key technologies propelling rockets into space.
This invaluable experience was a profound scientific baptism that cultivated the Tuenteenians’ spirit of “daring to question and ask.” We hope this journey inspires more students to maintain their curiosity about the universe, accumulate knowledge steadfastly, and bravely pursue their STEAM dreams!
